Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs in Charles County provide 21st century career opportunities with academic, personal responsibility and technical skills knowledge that contribute to life-long learning.

Today’s CTE programs:
• infuse academic knowledge with technical and employability skills to prepare students to solve real-world problems and gain relevant experience,
• allow students to earn college credit while in high school,
• provide opportunities for students to earn industry certifications and licenses, and
• satisfy the demand for increasingly complex technical careers which earn higher salaries.

Multiple CTE programs are located at each high school. CTE programs with specific space and equipment requirements are located at the North Point High School for Science, Technology and Industry and the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center. Typically, students begin CTE programs in 9th or 10th grade; however, there are opportunities for students to engage in CTE after 10th grade. Most CTE programs require a minimum of four courses that include foundation and specialized courses and capstones. Students enrolled in the capstone have a head-start on college and careers through internships or other work-based learning experiences, college credit, and/or a mentored project.
