Flower name: Tickseed Sunflower

Description: Slender, leafy, much-branched stems bear several Daisy-like flower heads with yellow flowers. Flowers: heads 1-2'' wide; ray long relation to width of center disk. Leaves: to 6'' long, opposite, pinnately divided, segment toothed. Fruit: dry, flat, ovoid, usually with 2 spines. Height: 1-5'.

Flowering time: August - October

Habitat:Wet meadows, roadside ditches, and also in abandoned fields, and low ground.

Range: New England south to Virginia: west of Louisiana and Texas: north through Missouri to Minnesota.
