Amy Hollstein is the Deputy Superintendent. She was appointed by Superintendent Kimberly Hill in 2013 as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and named Deputy Superintendent in 2016. Hollstein is a 29-year veteran of Charles County Public Schools who began her career in 1987 as a teacher at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School. In 1995, she was promoted to vice principal at Malcolm Elementary School where she served two years before being assigned as vice principal of Arthur Middleton Elementary School. She became principal of William B. Wade Elementary School in 2000, and later moved to C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School in 2011. During her two years as principal at Barnhart, Hollstein was credited with a drastic increase in student achievement. She also received the Washington Post's Distinguished Educational Leadership Award and was the Charles County Public Schools 2011 Principal of the Year. Hollstein earned her bachelor of science in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her master's degree in administration and supervision from The George Washington University.

MichaelHeim Michael L. Heim, Assistant Superintendent of Supporting Services

Michael Heim is the Assistant Superintendent of Supporting Services. He was appointed to the position in 2016 and oversees the maintenance and operations of all school system facilities, oversee the construction of new schools and building renovations, and manage the transportation department. Heim previously served as the director of transportation and managed all school bus operations. In this role Heim worked with bus contractors, bus drivers and attendants who provide transportation for more than 23,000 students. Heim first joined the transportation department in 2011 as an assistant supervisor after serving as a vice principal at North Point High School for seven years. Before pursuing a career in administration, Heim served as a social studies teacher at Westlake High School and also taught at the Radio Station Road Academy, a former alternative school, for one year. Heim has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College and a bachelor’s degree in social studies from West Virginia University.

RandySotomayor Randolph A. Sotomayor, Assistant Superintendent of Fiscal Services

Randolph Sotomayor is the Assistant Superintendent of Fiscal Services. He was appointed to the position in 2016 and oversees fiscal services, which includes payroll, benefits, safety and risk management, purchasing and accounts payable. He previously served as the executive director of budget and finance and budget manager for the school system. Sotomayor joined CCPS as the budget manager in 1995. Graduating from Drexel University in 1984, Sotomayor worked as a budget officer with American University in Washington, D.C. After 10 years at American, he went to Indiana University Bloomington where he was offered a fellowship by the Commission for Higher Education. He earned his master’s of science in education at Indiana.
