 May Updates

April was a month full of many activities.  We talked about Insects, the Farm, and began our unit on plants.  Here is what to look forward to in April:

Literacy:

We will be continuing to explore the theme “Spring is Here.”  We will be continue talking about the short e sound and learn the “et” word family.  We also will learn the new sight words play and she.  Our new letters are e, w, and y.  Please continue to reinforce the sight words at home with the sight word lists.  Don’t forget to return the lists signed when your child knows them all in random order.

Math:

In Math we will be continuing Math Investigations Theme 7 “Sorting and Surveys.”  We will learn about making lists and collecting data and how to interpret that information.  Once our math program is finished, we will spend our remaining time reviewing selected concepts!

Social Studies:

In May we will continue to talk about plants – in particular – flowers!  We will be celebrating Mother’s Day by inviting you for “Muffins for Moms!”  Then we move on to our ocean unit as we learn about creatures from the deep!  The end of the year is spent reviewing, reminiscing and preparing for 1st Grade!
