How do I get a copy of my child's transcript?
Transcripts are requested in writing at the Guidance Office desk, through Mrs. Friffith. The cost is $2.00 each, with the first transcript being free. We require at least one week to process transcript requests. Students should include any counselor forms required by colleges with the request. If a letter of recommendation is requested, an academic resume should be given to the counselor with the request.

What should my senior know about the new SAT/ACT? 0
To the class of 2006, Due to the changes for the SAT and ACT, it is more important than ever that you complete your college admission testing and applications early! The new SAT has a writing section, and an essay. You can also now add writing to your ACT test. For more information about the new SAT and how to prepare, please talk to Mr. Bursick, the SAT coordinator. He can usually be found patrolling the halls or in his office in the back hallway by the art department.

Three things your child should know about SAT's and College.
1. Prior to the spring of your senior year, we will administer the Mock SAT to seniors. The students will receive scores from the Mock SAT and the SAT Coordinator will be able to meet with each student. At the meeting they can determine the student's need for college admission testing based on the test results and their post-secondary plan and which test might be best suited for the student. Seniors may then pick up an ACT or SAT registration packet from their counselor in the Guidance Department.
note: If you have met the course requirements for a 4-year college, you should plan on taking either the ACT and/or the SAT once in the spring of the junior year as reconmmended by both the College Board and the ACT Educational Services. If necessary, a student may repeat either test as a senior. It is important to participate in the SAT prep programs offered at Lackey before the tests. Talk with your SAT Coordinator or counselor for more information.
2. Begin or continue to research colleges. Students generally apply to between 3 and 5 colleges and with the application deadlines often hitting in December(U Md. College Park!) we recommend that transcript and letter of recomendation requests be submitted to the guidance office early in November. During peak times, it can take as much as two weeks for the guidance office to process the requests!
note: As Mrs. Sanchuk always says ,"... if you don't try, you will never know."
3. Students will need a detailed academic resume in order to receive a quality letter of recommendation from their counselors and teachers. And yes, you will need letters of recommendation if you are going to college. Write your resume now and have copies ready for when you need it!
