October, 2007 The Parent-Teacher-Student Chain As we settle into the new school year, there are a number of
opportunities for parents to be a part of their child’s school and
schooling. These include the Open House, Mat Parent Night on November 5, and
Grandparents/VIP Visitation Day on November 16. None is more important, however,
than having a teacher parent conference. Our first scheduled conference day
is Wednesday, November 7. We hope that you will be able to take 15 minutes of
your time to have a face-to-face conference with your child’s teacher.
Researchers completed a study recently to verify what we already know: children
who have parents that are involved in their education do better in school and
are less prone to serious misbehaviors in and out of school. Our goal this year is to have at least one parent-teacher
conference for each child in the school. Notices will be sent out about the
November 7th conference day. Please make sure you are communicating with your
child’s teacher. The chain that connects child-parent-teacher can only
be strong if all of the links of the chain are present. I’m sure you

attendance, and behavior awards assemblies for the first marking period.
These will be held on Monday, November 19. Your child’s teacher will
give an invitation to you if your child will be getting one or more awards.
All parents are encouraged to attend.
