Destination Imagination Students Shine

We want to thank the Destination Imagination teams for a spectacular effort at the county competition, held March 15th. All three teams did an outstanding job. The Hit or Myth team finished first in their category, beating out several middle school teams in the process. The students from the Hit or Myth team, who will go onto the state competition, include: Mrs. Davis, Team Manager, Kylah Davis, Deondre Douglas, Naya Estep, Charlotte Nottingham, and Devin Thrutchley. A special thanks to third grade teacher, Mrs. Bartolomeo, School Sponsor, and to Mrs. Susan Nottingham, Parent Coordinator. This marks the third year in a row that a team has gone to states under Mrs. Nottingham’s direction. Congratulations to all for a job well done!

Backyard Habitat Dedication Ceremony

Local officials will be on hand to dedicate the backyard wetlands habitat on Wednesday, April 16, at 9:30 AM. Parents are cordially invited. Please see Mr. Andrews, science resource teacher, on how you can volunteer with the backyard habitat project. Soon, our students will be making great use of this wonderful addition to our school.

Fifth Grade Recognition

Our recognition of fifth graders’ completion of elementary school will take place on Thursday, June 5, from 10:00-11:30 at our school. The fifth grade will be having a Joe Corbi’s pizza fundraiser to help with their end of year promotions. See your child’s teacher or the main office at school if you would like to assist in any way.

Middleton Elementary Goes Green

Middleton Elementary will be starting a recycling program at school. Currently, we recycle paper, but will expand that to include recyclable materials such as cans, milk cartons, etc. We will have grade level competitions to see which grade level can be the “green champion.” Stay tuned for further details about this initiative.

Mr. Richmond and Board Supply Students for Success

We want to once again thank Superintendent Richmond and the Board of Education for replenishing us mid-year with school supplies. These supplies included wipes, tissues, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, paper towels, etc. An original shipment was sent at the beginning of the school year. These supplies are much needed in the classroom, and just another way that Mr. Richmond and the Board of Education supports our school.

Middleton Students Win Attendance Award

Our school tied with Diggs Elem. for first place with the highest attendance rate during the month of January out of the 20 elementary schools in Charles County. We topped this feat by finishing in first place alone for the month of February. Students learn when they are in school. We want to thank you, parents and guardians, for making sure your child or children attend school regularly.

The Big Event Hits Arthur Middleton Elementary

Our school has begun the “Big Event” recognition for those students who have been on green/blue on the school-wide discipline system 80 percent of the time during the third marking period. Those students will be treated to a “Big Event,” to be held on Thursday, April 10, from 9:30-11:45. We are keeping the details of the “Big Event” a secret until the end of the marking period on April 3. Please contact the school if you are interested in helping out during the event on April 10.
