Elementary Families, I
hope this letter finds you all happy, healthy, and ready for another school
year. We have been very busy this summer getting ready for another school
year. We
have added new staff to our school. They are: Pat O’ Connor, Guidance Counselor Tiffany Tripp, Gifted Resource Teacher Meredith
Lay, Special Education Teacher The
building service staff has been busily getting ready for the opening of
another school year. I am confident that the building will be ready for the
children on August 27th. Our school hours will remain the same. We ask that
you use the auxiliary parking lot to drop off your child(ren) and pick them
up. We will have a designated “Kiss and Go” zone at that lot with
one way traffic and staff to assist the students up the sidewalk. Only
approved daycares and buses will be allowed to enter the main parking lot. Our
students can and will perform to the highest of expectations. Our recent
success on the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) confirms this. Our school
went up a combined 13 percent in reading and math over last year’s
score. Our school has received a ribbon of excellence for our first year of
being a Positive Behavior Implementation and Supports (PBIS) school. It will
take the school staff, parents, and students working together to continue to
make this happen. Keeping informed about your child’s progress in
school is extremely important. This requires parents to keep in constant
contact with their child’s teacher or teachers. One goal this year is
to have 100 percent of the parents have at least one face-to-face conference
with their child’s teacher during the school year. In addition, there
are many other opportunities for parents to become involved with the school,
including joining the PTO and volunteering during the school day. I
hope you can join us for the following events: “New Student Orientation”- Grades 1-5-
August 22- Kindergarten Orientation, August 22, Class lists will be posted on August 24 at Pre-K
Orientation- August 31
