MSA Testing In March

Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the Maryland School Assessment on April 2, 3 (Reading), and April 8, 9 (Math). This state test is given to students to comply with the No Children Left Behind (NCLB) Federal requirement. Last year, we received the Maryland School Performance Recognition Honors for the 2nd time in 3 years. We are very excited about this award, and we know that the students will do even better this year. Make-ups are permitted, but please make sure that your child attends school, and that you stress with your child the importance of doing his or her best. Students scores are divided into three categories: Basic, Proficient, and Advanced, and you will get a report on how your child did with the fourth marking period report card.

Students in Grades 1 and 2 will be taking the county third quarter test during the week of March 17-20.

Middleton Owls Shine at County Math Competition

Saturday, February 23, proved to be a special day for Arthur Middleton Elementary. Our grade four and grade five math teams coached by Mrs. Bartolomeo did a remarkable job. Jordan Dreher had the top score on our fifth grade team. Leeadrian Tengco had the top score on our fourth grade team. Congratulations!

Schoolyard Habitat Dedication

County officials will be on hand to dedicate the backyard habitat area, tentatively scheduled for April 16, at 9:30 AM. The public is invited. Please contact Mr. Andrews at the school if you are interested in helping out with maintaining the backyard habitat area. The students will soon be able the use the habitat for science and other subject areas as the weather turns warmer.
