Final Day of School is Near!

For those of you who may not have heard, Tuesday, June 10, is the last day for the 2007-2008 school year. Even though it is the last day, it is a very important day. We will be having our fourth quarter awards assembly that day for grades 1-4, and we will be distributing report cards.

I want to thank you, the parents, for all of your hard work with your children. Together we can continue to have high expectations for our children both academically and in their behavior. I hope that our staff will always be known for its family atmosphere, where every teacher is interested in the success of each child as if they are their own. Bob Chase is the President of the National Education Association. He writes about what parents can and should do to provide meaningful learning time during the lengthy summer vacation. We hope that all parents will continue to find time to continue the learning process with their children this summer.

Have a safe and happy summer!

WANT TO BE A CSI INVESTIGATOR??????

In celebration of National Hearing and Speech Month, students will be practicing Communication Skills, Inc. (CSI). Students will learn about and practice the 10 valued social skills. Students will get special WHOO CARES for using these skills, which are: Listening to others, following steps, following rules, ignoring distractions, asking for help, taking turns while talking, getting along with others, staying calm with others, being responsible for your behavior, and doing nice things for others.

We want to thank Mrs. Currall, Speech/Language Pathologist, for her help in presenting CSI to our school. We hope that parents can also reinforce and practice these important skills at home with their children.

2nd Graders Help the Red Cross

Recently, Grade 2 students donated snacks and treats for wounded soldiers who arrive at Andrews Air Force Base, under the direction of the American Red Cross. Julie Myers of the Red Cross states, “We can thank young people, like yourselves, for being so kind and thoughtful to remember the troops.” We congratulate the 2nd graders on showing us the way to good character and citizenship.
