My goal in creating this art site was and is for parents and students: to be able to utilize homework, extra credit, warm-up make up copies, and review sheet copies; to create discussion at home about what is being learned in art class; and to provide parents valuable information about our art program. I hope that you are able to find this site useful and are using it as an incite to your child's learning experience here at Craik and in the art room. Enjoy!

ATTENTION: ON ART DAYS, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IN THEIR BEST CLOTHES. YOUR CHILD MAY WEAR A SMOCK DURING ART CLASS THAT HE OR SHE WILL KEEP IN THEIR LOCKER IN THEIR CORE CLASSROOM. THIS CAN BE AN OLD T-SHIRT. YOUR CHILD IS TO KEEP THE SMOCK IN THEIR LOCKER AT SCHOOL AND BRING IT TO ART CLASS ON THEIR ART DAY.

Please check out the power points listed above to view what your child will be learning over the next few weeks.

Our first semester we are learning about the art elements and principles of: line, color, shape, value, pattern, space, contrast.

The second semester we will be tying together the art elements and principles we have learned this year through new and exciting art projects, artwork discussion and analysis, and art writing.

New and exciting concepts and vocabulary are being learned by your child each semester! Please understand that as the school year progresses, the projects your child will create and complete will become more challenging in order to grow your child's mind. Please understand that the Core Curriculum is included in all subjects and has made, even art, more rigorous. Writing through artist statements are now a staple in longer projects and are graded assignments. An artist statement example is on the rubric example page.
