Camp Information

The Nanjemoy Creek Adventure Camp is designed for campers entering sixth through eighth grade in the 2017–2018 school year who are interested in participating in exciting and challenging outdoor activities. Campers participate in initiative and confidence activities which are designed to promote teamwork, creative problem solving, and self-confidence. Campers have the opportunity to develop skills in canoeing, birdwatching, fishing, and astronomy. Once they have mastered basic canoeing skills, they will have a chance to canoe on Nanjemoy Creek. The camp is designed to promote environmental stewardship by teaching campers how to observe, understand, enjoy, and respect nature.

The camp runs Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM the week of June 19, 2017. Bus transportation is provided from the Gwynn Center, 5998 Radio Station Rd., La Plata, MD. The bus leaves the Gwynn Center at 8:15 AM and returns at 3:45 PM.  Parents may transport their child directly to and from The Nanjemoy Creek Center each day (please notify camp counselor).

Enrollment is limited to 20 students on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $185 through PayPal.  Students should bring a lunch and beverage each day and dress for outdoor activities.  Friday evening there is an astronomy viewing that is open to all campers and their families.
