Dear J.C. Parks Families,

My name is Mrs. Brooks. I am pleased to introduce myself as the Learning Resource Teacher at J.C. Parks Elementary School.

This position will provide several exciting changes for the Charles County gifted program.

The Learning Resource Teacher role was developed for the 2014-2015 school year to give every elementary and middle school a full-time person to coordinate gifted programming and school-wide testing. As a Learning Resource Teacher, I will work directly with students, collaborate with teachers, meet with small groups, and monitor instruction for students who need gifted services. I will also oversee all aspects of testing, including the PARCC assessments as well as county pre/post-tests and all state testing.

I am looking forward to an exciting year. It is my goal to promote a challenging instructional program for students and to support classroom teachers as they deliver advanced curricula. I have high expectations for your child, and I look forward to working with him/her.

Another important goal this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you.  I am anxious to provide you with information about gifted services for your child. You can learn more about gifted education and enrichment opportunities on the county website.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns during the year. I can be reached by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Sincerely,

Mrs. Brooks

Learning Resource Teacher
