Rationale:  To increase proficiency level of all students with a specific focus on targeted populations.

 

M.AA.1- Strategy #1:  Identify students performing at basic level (bubble students) and provide appropriate instruction.

                Strategy #2:  Provide staff development to improve teacher capacity.

                Strategy#3:  Effectively utilize teaching staff and student scheduling with all subgroups.

Implementation Plan

 

 

1. Master Scheduling over Summer. Students who have achieved proficiency would be moved into appropriate math class.

 

2. Teachers will meet quarterly for two days to review student work samples, VSC curriculum, and test data.

 

 

3.  ILT team will review data warehouse throughout each quarter with teachers.

 

 

 

 

4.  Instructional assistants will be placed in classes intensively in developmental or double block math courses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.  Provide extended day program invitations to students.

 

 

 

  1. Teachers will be      provided opportunities for either in house Kagan strategies or to provide regional training.

 

 

     7.  Provide appropriate       manipulatives for each mathematics classroom along with training.

 

    8.  Training will take place during first weeks of school from inclusion team. Follow-up will continue throughout school year.

 

  1. School will provide time for teachers to observe others within or outside of Smallwood Middle who have effectively mastered the VSC. Feedback will be shared either with mentor teacher or at department meetings.

 

10.  A variety of methods and materials will be utilized, including Kagan strategies, etc.
