Computerized Keyboarding - Course # C17505

This course provides students with the keyboarding skills necessary for the efficient use of a microcomputer.  Students will become proficient in the use of the touch method while learning to use word processing software.  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to format a variety of personal, academic, and business documents including letters, tables, newsletters, and reports.  Students are also introduced to other computer applications, such as spreadsheets and databases.  Basic computer terminology and concepts are explored.

An articulation agreement has been reached between Charles County Public Schools and the College of Southern Maryland.  Students who successfully complete Computer Utilization & Keyboarding/Word Processing with a grade of “B” or better will be awarded 3 college credits for OFT 1010 (Keyboarding and Document Processing) when they enroll in one of the specified college programs.  Credits will be granted only for those courses required by the college program.  These credits will appear on the college transcript as “credits earned through high school articulation”.  Articulation must occur within two (2) years of high school graduation.
