Pearl Baily

Pearl Baily was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1918.Pearl had always been facinated in dancing and she once won an amature dancing contest in Phliadelphia. This led her to singing and by 1938, she won a vocal contest in Harlem's Appollo Theatre. Ms. Baily featured in important bands such as Edgar Haves, Noble Nissle, Cab Calloway, and Cootie Williams. She recorded many songs with these wonderful vocalists in in 1945. By 1969, she had stared in the Broadway musical, St. Lewis Woman. She married a drummer and band leader named Louis Bellson. After marrying Mr. Bellson, Pearl preformed with him.
