First Grade
Music
In first grade music classes, we work on fundamental music
concepts:
v
Feeling and moving to the steady beat.
v
Echoing simple rhythm patterns using body percussion and
classroom rhythm instruments.
v
Matching the pitch with our voices.
v
Identifying loud and soft, slow and fast, high and low.
v
We will be experimenting with making music with our new software
games and our lcd projector!
We also learn a little bit about orchestra instruments, how they
look and sound.
We talk about composing and creating music and learn about
Prokoviev and his orchestra piece “Peter and the Wolf”.
We find out something about famous performers like Ella
Fitzgerald.
In the spring we learn lots of song from and about
