"History in the Raw"--Using Primary Sources to "beef up" your instruction. 

Primary and Secondary historical sources are defined in a PowerPoint presentation aimed at teachers, students and parents.    Teachers are also provided information on how to easily locate and utilize primary sources to enhance instruction across all subject areas, not just social studies.

The documents are also available in Word97 format so that teachers can save them and edit or adapt them for their own use.  Word97 format:

Designed for teachers and students to use technology to enhance and extend lessons in the Social Studies Essential Curriculum.  Grade 2 would apply the technology in the Canada Unit/Life of the Inuit.  Grade 3 would apply the technology in the Polar Region Unit.  The Unit includes literacy, social studies, and media skills. Student goals, activities,  assessments, and copies of all needed materials are also included.
