Networking and Internship

SYLLABUS

This course is a survey of computing and communications topics essential to the administration of a local and wide area network    It is a two period course consisting of classroom instruction one period and one period of laboratory.

During this second session students will work independently under the authority of the instructor. Interns must maintain a professional demeanor at all times when dealing with faculty and staff.

Interns occupy a position of trust within the school. It is very important that interns respect that trust at all times. If at any time an intern violates that trust he or she is subject to immediate removal from the program and possibly to suspension from school.

Course Requirements

All students/interns are expected to attend each class session and participate in all class and lab activities. Interns assigned to work on their own in other classrooms must go to those rooms, complete their tasks and return directly to class.

Policies

Students must abide by policies in the Student Handbook and the CCBOE Acceptable Use Policy. As Interns the students must fulfill the terms of the Internship Contract as well. Any violation of the position of trust held by the intern may immediately result in the intern being withdrawn from the course. Other administrative penalties may be invoked by the school and/or the school system.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS

Above and beyond school policies intern conduct must meet the highest standards of courtesy and respect. Interns must complete "project tickets" to receive credit for work performed. Courtesy and encouragement toward every class member is required. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to check with a fellow classmate to find out what was covered or what announcements were made.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

The primary methods of instruction will be demonstrations and projects. Sometimes projects will require working with other interns. Students/interns will make presentations based on some of their projects. The presentations will be scored as well as the projects. Completion of all assignments on time is required.

Students/interns who do not complete a project report on time will be given a zero on the project.  Students/interns may request an extension of the time available for a project provided they make the request at least 1 day before they are due.
