NJROTC in October

Another month has passed for Westlake’s NJROTC unit. This month some

Cadets went on a field trip to the Naval Academy to earn their first sea cruise ribbon.

There, the cadets went on a Yard Patrol boat to look at the perspective of an everyday

Navy seaman. Thirty- nine cadets attended.

Cadets were given another chance to earn a ribbon when the fall physical fitness

test took place on the 13th of October. Congratulations to Bryan Lewis for being the overall

champion of the physical fitness test for the third time in a row. Bryan earned a two

hundred and ninety five out of a possible three hundred points.

On the 20th the unit attended the yearly American Freedom Day held at La Plata

High school. During this event the county recognized our veterans, and the freedom of

America. The drill and ceremony class performed a flag folding ceremony as the poem

“Old Glory” was read.
