
What is N.J.R.O.T.C.
?
N.J.R.O.T.C is a junior
leadership development class. In the four-year course you learn the value of
citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense
of accomplishment.
History of J.R.O.T.C.
The J.R.O.T.C. programs began as Army J.R.O.TC. in 1911. In 1916, Congress passed the first laws establishing Army J.R.O.T.C. programs in American high schools. In 1964, Congress authorized the establishments of J.R.O.T.C. programs by the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. The first Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (N.J.R.O.T.C.) was established in 1966. Today, there are over 425 N.J.R.O.T.C. programs in high schools all over the United States and high schools in Guam, Japan, and Italy.

A. Promote Patriotism.
B. Develop informed and responsible citizens.
C. Promote habits of orderliness and precision.
D. Develop a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, self-discipline, and leadership.
E. Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.
F. Develop respect for and an understanding of the need for constituted authority in a democratic society.
G. Provide incentives to live healthy and drug free lives.
H. Develop leadership potential.
I. Promoted high school completion.
J. Provide information on the military services as a possible career.
