CCPS, Board seek feedback on draft 2023-2024 school calendar

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) and the Board of Education of Charles County would like input on the 2023-2024 calendar. The Board of Education approves the school calendar one year in advance.

At the Oct. 11 Board meeting, staff presented two draft calendar options for the Board’s consideration. Both options are posted on the CCPS website at https://www.ccboe.com/parents/school-calendar-survey. The website also includes a link to the calendar survey.

The Board will review survey feedback at its Nov. 15 meeting and is proposed to take action on the 2023-2024 calendar proposals at its Dec. 13 meeting.

Both draft 2023-2024 calendar options include a pre-Labor Day start date in August, a full week of both winter break and spring break, and early dismissal dates for students. Early dismissal dates in both options are scheduled for contracted teaching planning, interim and report card preparation time.

The calendar proposals also include 180 student attendance days and 190 contracted teacher workdays. The difference between the two options is the placement of inclement weather days. Click here to review both calendar options and take the survey. Both calendar drafts, as well as the survey, are available for view in English and Spanish.
