CCPS, Board seek feedback on draft 2027-2028 school calendar

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) and the Board of Education of Charles County seek input on the 2027-2028 school calendar. The Board typically approves the calendar two years in advance.

At the April 27 Board work session, staff presented two calendar options for the Board to consider. The options are posted on the CCPS website at https://www.ccboe.com/parents/2027-2028-school-calendar-survey. The webpage also features a calendar survey. CCPS encourages parents, students, staff and community members to review the calendar options and provide feedback on them.

Deadline to complete the survey is 11:59 p.m., Sunday, May 17. The Board will review survey feedback at its May 18 work session. The Board is anticipated to take action on the calendar at its June 9 meeting.

Both calendar options include holiday breaks, parent teacher conference days, and early dismissal days for students.

As of March 2026, the Maryland State Board of Education requires school systems to include six identified inclement weather make-up days in the school calendar. Both calendar options have inclement weather dates noted in March 2028 and June 2028.

For school systems that have approved virtual instruction inclement weather make-up plans, three inclement weather make-up days are required in the school calendar. CCPS does not have an approved virtual instruction inclement weather option.

The Board of Education is hosting a May 6 Town Hall at 7 p.m. on Zoom to discuss virtual instruction inclement weather options. A link to the meeting is below.
