CCPS seeking parent, student volunteers for calendar committee

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is seeking two parent volunteers and two high school student volunteers to serve on its calendar committee.

Volunteers must be able to attend in-person meetings scheduled bi-weekly (every two weeks) from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building. The Starkey building is located at 5980 Radio Station Road in La Plata.

Tentative meeting dates are below.

  • March 1.
  • March 15.
  • March 29.
  • April 12.
  • April 26.
  • May 10.

The committee is tasked with the annual development of the CCPS school calendar. The calendar committee provides recommendations to the Superintendent, who presents calendar options to the Board of Education of Charles County for review and approval. The committee will work on calendar options for the 2024-2025 school year.

Staff will review interest forms to select volunteers from different areas in Charles County, as well as different school communities. Staff may also select an alternate parent and student calendar committee volunteer.
