Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) teams recently competed in the 2025 Maryland MESA Day held May 3 at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Teams that advanced to the state competition first placed in the regional showcase held earlier this year at North Point High School.
Math, Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) is designed to prepare students for academic and professional careers in mathematics, engineering, science and technology.
Elementary-level students compete in the community cleanup, planetary lander, wearable technology and storybook theme park ride challenges, while middle and high school students take part in the community cleanup, planetary lander, wearable technology and the National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC) challenges.
The following CCPS teams placed at the 2025 Maryland MESA Day.
- William A. Diggs Elementary School, first place, community cleanup challenge.
- Malcolm Elementary School, third place, planetary lander challenge.
- Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Elementary School, first place, wearable technology challenge.
- Malcolm, first place, storybook theme park ride challenge.
- John Hanson Middle School, second place, community cleanup challenge.
- Piccowaxen Middle School, second place, NEDC.
- La Plata High School, third place, NEDC.
