No disruption to school meals for students who receive SNAP benefits

There is no disruption in school meal status as of Nov. 3, 2025, for students receiving SNAP benefits. Students who receive free meals under SNAP will continue to receive free meals for the entire school year. Students who may be newly eligible for SNAP benefits when their applications are processed will also qualify for free school meals for the entire school year.

CCPS will continue to serve free breakfast at schools qualifying for the Maryland Meals for Achievement Program – 32 CCPS schools/centers. Click here for a list. Students attending Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools will continue to receive both a free breakfast and lunch for the entire school year. CCPS has 12 CEP schools. Click here for a list.

Parents/guardians affected by the federal government shutdown may use their current household income to complete the application for free or reduced-price meals. Parents of students attending CEP schools do not need to apply. The application is available online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Families/students in need of additional support can reach out to a school administrator or pupil personnel worker at their school. Most CCPS community schools have food pantries and several CCPS schools have afterschool, evening and/or weekend food resource programs that support students identified as in need of additional support.

Schools with the highest concentrations of poverty, such as Title I and Community Schools, implement embedded strategies and supports to assist families with housing, address food insecurity through food pantries and weekend meal programs, and provide access to healthcare and mental health services.

The Southern Maryland Food Connection has a list of food pantries on its website at https://somdfoodconnection.org/
