Nominate – Outstanding Assistant Principal (AP) award

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is looking for nominees for its annual Outstanding Assistant Principal award. The award honors exemplary leaders for their leadership and for their commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment for students.

Each year, CCPS selects an overall award recipient for its Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year award from nominations across the school system. Nominations may be submitted by school system employees, students and parents (employees may not nominate themselves).

Criteria for nominees includes at least three years of experience as an assistant principal with CCPS and have not been previously selected as an Outstanding Assistant Principal within the past five years.

Nominated assistant principals must meet the following criteria:

  • Committed to continued professional growth.
  • Establishes partnerships with community groups to strengthen programs and support school goals.
  • Manages time and tasks effectively, including delegation to others.
  • Implements strategies to improve teaching through effective programs.
  • Assists in ensuring that the school climate is positive and reflects high staff and student morale.
  • Resolves short-term issues while balancing them against long-term objectives.
  • Demonstrates and fosters creativity and imagination to bring about positive student growth.

Nomination materials must be submitted electronically. Materials should include a nominee career summary, a description of contributions in each of the nomination criteria areas, and a maximum of 20 current statements of support, including one from the school principal.
