Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is seeking volunteers to serve on its calendar committee. Volunteers must be able to attend in-person meetings on Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building. The Starkey building is located at 5980 Radio Station Road in La Plata. The first meeting is set for Feb. 19.
The calendar committee will review and work on calendar options for the 2026-2027 school year. The committee recommendations are then shared with Superintendent of Schools Maria V. Navarro, Ed.D., who presents calendar options for review and approval by the Board of Education of Charles County.
Interested parent, student and staff volunteers should complete the calendar committee interest form. From submissions, staff will select three parent representatives, two high school student representatives and three staff members. Click here to complete the interest form.

Deadline to complete the interest form is noon, Friday, Feb. 14. Staff will review interest forms to select volunteers from different areas in Charles County, as well as different school communities. Staff may also select alternate committee members.
Additional stakeholders will be invited to participate on the committee to include CCPS administrative and instructional staff, and representatives from the Education Association of Charles County (EACC) and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) unions.
The Board of Education has already approved the 2025-2026 school year calendar. Dates for next year are listed on the CCPS website at https://www.ccboe.com/about/calendar/at-a-glance-2025-26-calendar. The Board typically approves the school calendar two years in advance.
