Stethem center open for auto repair services

Automotive repair services are available at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center.

Students in the automotive technology program at the center are learning hands-on skills using diagnostic equipment and tools. At the shop, students — overseen by instructors — can conduct engine diagnostics and repairs, inspect brakes, do oil changes and other services. Parts are not provided and the shop takes cash only.

The shop is open during school hours through May 15. Customers should contact the school if there is a change in the school hours due to school system delays or closures.

The automotive technician program at Stethem emphasizes hands-on and theoretical experience using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and tools. The program incorporates the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) program certification standards and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) standards.

Students prepare for further education and careers in the automotive industry through industry certification and articulated credit at technical or community colleges.
