Robert D. Stethem Educational Center’s National Technical Honors Society (NTHS) was recently honored on the national level for its dedication and commitment to establishing a strong foundation of excellence within the chapter. Stethem’s NTHS received the Silver Star of Excellence Award through the national society.
The award is given to honor societies across the nation that have implemented the NTHS’s “core four” objectives, career development, leadership, service and recognition. These societies have built well-rounded chapter experiences for its members from maintaining an active chapter and growing member engagement to serving its community and fostering relationships within it.
“This award recognizes your exceptional dedication to career development, leadership, service, and recognition within your school and community,” Christina Councill, senior director of engagement of NTHS, said.
Stethem Principal Corey Dobbins said that NTHS members at the school have played a key role in fostering a positive school environment under the dedicated leadership of NTHS advisor Monique Poole. “We are excited to see the continued growth of the NTHS program as students showcase their achievements and expand their impact,” he said.
2025 NTHS scholarship recipients
Angelique Nickle, a rising senior in the Academy of Health Professions (AHP) Pharmacy Technician program at Robert D. Stethem Educational Center, recently received the $1,000 Jon H. Poteat Scholarship through the NTHS. She was inducted into the Stethem chapter of NTHS during a February ceremony.
Stethem pharmacy technician teacher Susan Hunter, Ph.D., said that Nickle is a top student in the program. “[Nickle] is going to make a wonderful healthcare professional because of her care for others and focus on service,” she said.
Named in memory of the late Jon H. Poteat, co-founder of NTHS, the scholarship is reserved exclusively for active NTHS members and provides over $300,000 in scholarships to high school and post-secondary members annually.
“We are proud of what Angelique has already accomplished and look forward to her continued commitment to our Pharmacy Technician Program while watching and supporting her achievement of her future goals,” Dobbins said.
Ty’Yonna McNeal, recent graduate of North Point High School, also received the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship Award this year.
