Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) today announces the administrative change of two current principals. The changes take effect July 1, 2025.
R. Demetri Sermons, Ed.D., principal at Phoenix International School of the Arts (PISOTA), moves to Gale-Bailey Elementary School.
Sermons has led PISOTA in the principal role since the school opened in 2023. Prior to joining CCPS, Sermons served as a principal with Providence Public Schools in Rhode Island, Richmond Public Schools in Virginia, and principal with Vision Academies, EastSide Charter School in Delaware. Sermons will close out this school year as principal at PISOTA and begin his new role as Gale-Bailey’s principal on July 1.
Tangela Scales, Ed.D., principal at Gale-Bailey Elementary School, moves to the principal role at William B. Wade Elementary School.
Scales has served as principal at Gale-Bailey since 2019 and is a veteran CCPS educator. Prior to her principal appointment, Scales was an assistant principal and teacher with CCPS. Scales will close out this school year as principal at Gale-Bailey and begins her new role as principal at Wade on July 1.
Earlier this school year, the principal role at Wade was left vacant. Retired longtime CCPS principal Sonia Blue has led the school in an interim principal capacity and will remain in place through the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
