Members of a cohort to become yoga teachers through Shabach Yoga Studios in Waldorf donated duffle bags for Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students in foster care. The bags contained items that a middle- or high school student could use such as toiletries, a blanket and pillow, and a journal. Members of the cohort — Kishanna Brown, Lisa Chinn, Williana Parker, Jocklyn Squirewell and Nicole Stanton — must complete a service project while studying to become yoga teachers.
Squirewell said she heard that children in foster care often move their belongings in trash bags and wanted to provide a traditional bag for those in need of one. To donate to CCPS students in need, contact Bethany Goodwin, CCPS Community Schools, Homeless and Foster Care District Coordinator, at 301-934-7210 or bgoodwin@ccboe.com for more information about items children could use.
