CCPS moving to Apptegy July 1

CCPS moving to new communications platform

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is shifting to a new communications platform in July to help streamline communication between schools and families. CCPS has contracted with Apptegy, a platform that provides website hosting, mass communication, social media posting and two-way parent and staff communication. All changes noted below are effective July 1, 2026.

New look for CCBOE.com

As part of the platform launch, CCPS will now host the school system website, and school/center websites through Apptegy. The sites will feature updated designs, easier navigation and consolidated menu structures. The CCPS website will remain www.ccboe.com. However, current website links will change; CCPS will create redirects so parents and staff who have bookmarked important pages, such as school websites, will not lose resources. However, some web URLs may not be updated. Once the new website is live, CCPS will share overview videos so parents, staff and website visitors can quickly learn how to easily navigate the new website.

Phone calls, emails

Emails continuing from  message@ccboe.com

CCPS will move to a new mass communication tool as part of the move to Apptegy. CCPS email messages will still come to parents from  message@ccboe.com (or through Synergy Mail). The new system will also handle absence notifications and other CCPS or school-related automatic calls, with calls coming from school phone numbers, and text message alerts.

New mobile app July 1

The Google Play logo with its colorful triangle is on the left against a white background, while the white App Store %22A%22 logo is on the right against a blue background.

CCPS will debut a new mobile app on July 1 that will feature push notification alerts, translated content based on the user’s preferred language and access to a new two-way parent communication tool called Rooms. The app will feature CCPS news, events and the ability to see the overall CCPS calendar, as well as school/center calendars.

The new app will be available in the Apple/Google app stores July 1. Search for Charles County PS (MD) and look for the CCPS Think, Inspire, Grow logo.

Stay connected via text alerts

As part of the transition, CCPS text alerts will now come from 98900. Parents and staff who have cell phone numbers on file with CCPS (parents – Synergy; staff – Oracle), will automatically receive text messages from CCPS.

To ensure parents and staff don't miss important CCPS or school updates, CCPS recommends staying opted in to receive CCPS and school notifications through text. However, if parents and staff prefer not to receive these updates, they can opt out by texting STOP to 98900.

After July 1, CCPS and school text alerts will no longer come from 67587.

ParentVue/ StudentVue and Canvas remain

CCPS is not moving away from Synergy, the student information system that supports ParentVue and StudentVue, or from Canvas, the learning management system (LMS) used by teachers to post class assignments, assessments, and class webpages. These platforms remain in place for the 2026-2027 school year.

Two-way communication tool – Rooms launching August 2026

As part of the communication platform change, CCPS will use a new two-way parent communication tool called Rooms. Rooms will launch in August with the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

As of July 1, CCPS will no longer use or support Talking Points or Class Dojo for school-to-home parent communication. Outside of Rooms, the only other CCPS supported and monitored communication tools are Synergy Mail, CCPS email or sportsYou (mobile app for athletics and clubs).

Parents can sign in to Rooms from the CCPS mobile app, or log in from the main CCPS website (coming July 1). Parents will also receive a text message about any new Rooms post or message (prompting them to log into either the CCPS mobile app or the Rooms area of the website). In Rooms, communication between parents, staff and teachers is translated into the user’s preferred language.

Rooms will launch live for staff, teachers and parents on Aug. 17, when teachers return for the school year. Use of Rooms is optional for teachers and staff; however, it is the only CCPS approved two-way communication tool (other than the sportsYou app for athletics and clubs).
