Project Lead the Way: Biomedical Sciences

Program Description

This program is based on the national content standards for Science, Mathematics, and English Language Arts and the Accountability Criteria for the national Health Care Cluster Foundation Standards.  Students who complete the program are prepared for employment and further education in the medical field.  Stevenson University, Maryland’s PLTW Biomedical Sciences Affiliate University, offers transcripted credits to students who successfully complete the program and meet specific requirements.     

What high schools offer the program?

Four-year regionalized program at La Plata High School and Westlake High School. 

  • If accepted into the program, students zoned for Henry E. Lackey, La Plata and Maurice J. McDonough will attend La Plata High School.
  • If accepted into the program, students zoned for St. Charles, North Point, Thomas Stone and Westlake will attend Westlake High School.

When do students apply?

Students apply in 8th grade.
