Welcome to the Special Education Family Engagement Hub!
This is your one-stop location for information, events, and resources designed to help families of students with disabilities feel supported and connected. Our Department of Special Education, Family Support Services (Parent Center), and the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC) are working together to provide learning opportunities, tools, and ways for your voice to be heard.

Department of Special Education (Central Office Team)
If you have questions about your child’s IEP, evaluations, program placement, transition services, or other district-wide supports, the Special Education Department is here to help. Our central office team can guide you through special education processes, connect you with school staff, and keep you informed about district initiatives and opportunities.
Family Support Services (Parent Center)
The Parent Center is your first stop for individualized support. Staff are available to help you better understand your child’s IEP, prepare for meetings, and connect with resources in the community. Whether you’re brand-new to the special education process or navigating a new stage, the Parent Center offers workshops, consultations, and referrals to help you feel confident and supported.
Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC)
SECAC is a group of parents, community members, and staff who work together to improve special education in Charles County. This is the place to go if you want to share your experiences, provide feedback, or connect with other families. SECAC offers opportunities for advocacy, networking, and family-to-family support. They also host events where your voice directly contributes to shaping services for students with disabilities.
