SCIENCE – Quarters 2-3
Preparation – Students research information on a variety of topics relevant to the grade 7 science curriculum, including local wildlife species and management, overpopulation, global warming, and organic farming. Students and teachers then identify an action project in the local area to address one of the environmental issues discussed in class.
Action – Students and teachers make contacts with appropriate agencies, administration, and volunteer groups to develop environmental project. Students follow-through on projects (samples of which are school grounds beautification, recycling, planting of native species, wetlands development, etc.)
Reflection – Students complete the CCPS Reflection Essay for this project that includes explanation and reflective pieces on their research and the impact of their actions on the environment.
