Bus

School bus drivers in Charles County are thoroughly trained and qualified professionals.
All new school bus drivers complete a comprehensive program including individualized behind-the-wheel training. School bus drivers are subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal background checks, random drug/alcohol testing, post-accident drug/alcohol testing, as well as reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol testing.

Each school year, bus drivers must complete thorough in-service training programs to review driving skills and increase behavior management skills. Transportation supervisors complete observations of all school bus drivers on a regular basis to ensure these skills are utilized.  School bus drivers must have a satisfactory MVA driving record history and also a Department of Transportation physical/medical card.

CCPS School Bus Drivers and Attendants should review the Transportation section (pages 16-18) of the Code of Student Conduct to familiarize themselves with the rules and procedures set forth by the school system.
