When inclement weather strikes, Charles County Public Schools wants to ensure clear communication regarding delayed openings, early dismissals, and school closures.  The communication methods outlined below are the most reliable ways to receive news about these events.  Visit Inclement Weather Procedures for more detailed information.

  • Check the website at www.ccboe.com.
  • Provide a valid email address to your child’s school to receive an email notification.

Text Messages from CCPS

Parents who want to opt-in for text message alerts from CCPS through School Messenger must have a cell phone number on their child’s emergency notification card on file at their child’s school. To opt-in, parents should receive a text message from 67587 and must reply Y or YES. Parents who change cell phone numbers during the school year must contact their child’s school to update their information. Once the information is updated, within 48 hours parents should receive an opt-in message from 67587. Only parents receive opt-in messages. Text STOP to 67587 at any time to stop receiving text message alerts from CCPS. Standard text message rates by cell phone carriers apply.

Receive free email and text message notification from the Citizen Notification Service (CNS). Visit http://www.charlescountymd.gov/CNS to sign up. Select Charles County Public Schools notifications.
