The Board of Education approves the Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) calendar one year in advance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and CCPS schedule changes, the calendar approval for school year 2021-22 was delayed.

Staff developed two calendar proposals for the 2021-22 school year. Both include a pre-Labor Day start date for students, 180 state required instructional days for students and 190 contracted work days for teachers.

The proposals are similar with the exception of spring break closures, and the last day of school for students and teachers.

  • Option 1 icon acrobat includes a full week of spring break with a later end date for students and teachers. This option is based on the current school year model (2020-21).
  • Option 2 icon acrobat includes a condensed spring break and an earlier end date for students and teachers.
  • Both options include four inclement weather days in the calendar. If inclement weather days are not used, they are deducted from the end of the year.

Staff presented the draft options to the Board at its Sept. 8, 2020 meeting. The Board will once again review the draft calendar options at its Oct. 13 meeting.
