threeProgramThe program features a two-generation approach, meaning parents participate in the program along with their child in order to help the child receive a strong educational foundation. The goal is to provide families with resources and skills to help their children achieve academic and personal success. 

Students eligible for the program must be three by Sept. 1 and live in a Title I school zone.  Each school has 30 spaces for the program and enrollment priority is given to children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

Title 1 schools include: C. Paul Barnhart, Dr. Gustavus Brown, Indian Head, Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer, Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy, J.P. Ryon, Dr. Samuel A. Mudd and Eva Turner elementary schools.  School year 2020-21 is the first year Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer is a Title I school so it will not have a Thriving Threes and Me Early Learning program.

Families of children accepted in the program must attend a minimum of three workshops and a mandatory orientation. For the start of the program, workshops and orientations will be held virtually and arranged by school staff. Families will also be required to participate in monthly virtual home visits.

Students in the program will receive a laptop or iPad at request, as well as an Internet hot spot if needed. When schools return to in-person learning, transportation for children is not provided. Title I staff can provide families with VanGo transportation passes.

    To apply for the program, a child must be 3 years old on or before September 1st (original birth certificate & shot records required) and reside in a Title I school zone (2 proofs required). Priority will be given to families who qualify for free- and reduced-priced meals.

  4. Are all children who meet the criteria able to attend?
    There are 30 slots in each Title I school. Eligible families are placed according to the criteria stated above with priority given to families who qualify for free- and reduced-priced meals.

  5. What are the components of the program?
    The program is comprised of weekly parent/child learning groups, monthly parent workshops, and monthly home visits. Learning groups will be held twice a week for one hour per session. Workshops and home visits will be offered monthly on designated dates/times.

  6. When will the program begin?
    The program will begin virtually on September 21, 2020 and will continue online until it is deemed safe for families to return to the school building.  

  7. Are families required to participate in the monthly parent workshops and home visits?
    Families are required to attend a minimum of three workshops and a mandatory parent orientation. Additionally, monthly home visits should be attended regularly as the visits are designed to meet the individual needs of families.

  8. Will transportation be provided when schools return to in-person learning?
    Transportation will not be provided. However, VanGo passes will be offered to families who need transportation assistance.

  9. Will technology be provided to families who are unable to access the virtual sessions?
    Laptops will be loaned to families who do not have access to a device. Hot Spots will also be offered as needed.

  10. If our family is accepted into the program, when will we be notified?
    Families will be notified within 3 weeks of their application submission.

  11. Are families accepted into the program throughout the school year?
    If slots are available in a school, new families will be given consideration until April 1, 2021.  Students will not be placed after this date.

  12. What should I do if my child receives services such as an ISFP or IEP?
