Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has a five phase reopening plan for the 2020-21 school year. Schools opened this year in Phase 1 – virtual learning for all students. As CCPS moves through its reopening phases, parents of students who are identified to return to school for in-person learning (see reopening plan for who can return during which phase) can opt to send their child back to school for in-person learning or continue virtual learning for the entire school year. Westlake High School is hosting two virtual events in the coming weeks. The drama department will stream “The Day the Internet Died” by Ian McWethy and Jason Pizzarello starting Friday, Jan. 15, and “Identity Play; or Who You Are If You Think You Are” by Jon Jory and Jason Pizzarello starting Jan. 22. Both shows will run for a week. Interested viewers should email the Westlake theater arts department to request a link. All children entering Charles County Public Schools must have the following:
A physical examination by a physician or a certified practitioner. Physicals must be completed between nine months prior to and six months after entering school. Health Forms.
Proof that the student has completed the grade prior to the one in which the parent is seeking enrollment, such as a report card marked promoted.
Child’s birth certificate or other acceptable proof of birth (e.g. passport/visa; physician’s certificate; baptismal or church certification; hospital certificate; or birth registration). (If the child was born in Maryland, a copy of his/her birth certificate can be purchased from the Charles County Health Department. Call 301-609-6900.)
Students who are transferring from another school in Maryland should also have a copy of the Student Record Card 7 that is completed by the sending school. The Student Record Card 7 is also called the Maryland Student Withdrawal/Transfer Record.
Two proofs of Domicile / Residency *Note-Parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for promptly notifying the school system of any change in address. Failure to do so may result in the student being immediately transferred to the school zoned for the student’s correct address.
Three-year-old Program CCPS will begin to accept applications for the Title 1 Thriving Threes and Me Early Learning Program Sept. 1. Students eligible for the program must by three by Sept. 1 of this year and live in a Title 1 school zone. Title 1 schools that have a three-year-old program are C. Paul Barnhart, Dr. Gustavus Brown, Indian Head, Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy, J.P. Ryon, Dr. Samuel A. Mudd and Eva Turner elementary schools. Each school has 30 spaces for the program and enrollment priority is given to children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Applications must be submitted online using ParentVue. The program begins virtually on Sept. 21. Families will be notified of their application status within three weeks of submission.
Prekindergarten The online application for Prekindergarten for the school year 2020-21 opens March 30, 2020. To enter prekindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, a child must be four years old by September 1, 2020. Admission is based on criteria and guidelines set by the Maryland State Department of Education and is not guaranteed. Placement in prekindergarten in based on student need in three categories. Kindergarten Registration for Kindergarten for the school year 2020-21 opens March 30, 2020. To be eligible for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, a child must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2020. Early Entrance into Kindergarten Information.

Online registration for students new to CCPS entering prekindergarten through twelfth grade. Parents should use the registration link below to register a child not already enrolled in CCPS. Students currently enrolled do not need to register for the next school year. Registrations can not be processed until all required documents have been uploaded. Parents new to CCPS must first create a ParentVUE account to register online using a valid email address.

Parents with students already enrolled in CCPS can complete the registration for another child using an active ParentVUE account.
