The Importance of Parent Engagement

Parents and families of Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students can strengthen the school-to-home connection by staying engaged and with their child’s school.

Staff of the CCPS Department of Community Engagement and Equity (DCEE) developed a presentation shared during a February 2025 town hall hosted by the Board of Education of Charles County.

“Why is Parent Engagement so Important?” touched on ways families can become and remain involved in their child’s education through a partnership with CCPS staff. The presentation also shared resources parents and families can use to ensure their child is learning and growing at home and school.

Among the topics touched on in the presentation were the introduction of staff members who can assist students with academics and other services, the protocol parents can follow to obtain the best results when reporting an issue or concern, and how families can stay connected to their child’s school and the resources available to them.
