Summer School 2025
Registration opens June 10 and closes June 19. An email from the school counselor will be sent to parents of students who are eligible for summer school with the recommended course.
All courses run July 1 through July 31, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Charles County Public Schools will not provide transportation to and from Summer School this year. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent to coordinate.
Summer school graduation ceremonies will take place on Friday, Aug. 1 at St. Charles High School.
The schedule includes a mix of make-up and original credit courses. All make-up credit courses will be taught in person and original credit courses will be virtual through the Apex Learning and Zoom online platforms.
Fridays are set aside during summer school for students to complete course work. For students to receive credit, they must attend all class sessions and pass all assigned work, assessments, and assignments.
High School Virtual Original Courses are available to students who have completed one year of high school. Students may take up to ONE full credit.
A fee of $300 must be paid before registration is complete.

High School courses will be taught at St. Charles High School (for students who have a home address zoned for St. Charles, La Plata or Maurice J. McDonough high schools) and Westlake High School (for students who have a home address zoned for Henry E. Lackey, North Point, Thomas Stone and Westlake high schools).

High School Virtual Original Credit Courses
High school virtual original credit courses are open to high school students who have completed one year of high school.* Students may take up to ONE full credit.
- Art I
- English III - This course is for students who have met all requirements to graduate at the end of their junior year and have an approved graduating junior application on file with their home school.
- English IV - This course is for students who have completed four years of high school and are not in their graduation cohort, or class. Students must gain approval to enroll in this course from the supervising school counselor.
- Exploring Computer Science (Tech Ed credit)
