Student Government Association (SGA)

Finish Sarcoma Sock Drive

John Hanson SGA will be accepting donations of any unused socks from February 1st thru February 28th.  The Maryland Association of Student Councils has chosen The Finish Sarcoma charity as the state charity for the 2017-2018 school year.  The Charles County Association of Student Councils has been designated to collect socks as our participation in that charity.  John Hanson students can place the unused socks in bins located near the stage and in the library.  Thank you for supporting the Finish Sarcoma charity.

John Hanson SGA will be sending eight delegates and one delegate as a staff representative to the Legislative session taking place on Saturday, February 3rd at St. Charles High School.  Graciella Ndjampa, our staffer, will be providing assistance throughout the day during the event.    The theme is “Leadership Around the World.”  Delegates will be given opportunities to practice learned leadership skills, develop new ones, and partake in electing the final two candidates for student member of the State Board of Education!  Throughout the day, qualified candidates from across the state will be campaigning for the position of 2018-2019 student member on the State Board of Education (SMOB). This is an exciting opportunity for our SGA delegates!

SGA will be doing a fundraiser at Chipotle in Waldorf on Monday, February 5th from 4-8pm.  Please show the flyer when making your purchase.  Come and support the SGA while enjoying some food!

Valentine's Day is coming soon!  Love is in the air!  The SGA club will be hosting a Valentine's Day dance on Wednesday, February 14th after school from 3:15-5pm.  Tickets will be on sale during school in the morning and during lunches from Monday, February 5th thru Friday, February 9th.   Permission slips will be available in the office, library and on the stage.

The mission of the John Hanson Student Government Association is to strive to bring together the students and staff of John Hanson by providing quality leadership, service, education and friendship within our school and community.
