Mr. Steven D. Roberts has been principal at McDonough High School since 2016. He previously served as vice principal at North Point High School and at McDonough High School. Mr. Roberts began his teaching career in 1997 as a mathematics teacher at Westlake High School.

In 2011 he was assigned as vice principal at McDonough High School then in 2015 at North Point.  Roberts is a Charles County Public Schools graduate of La Plata High School, received his Associate's Degree from Charles County Community College (now CSM), his Bachelor's Degree from University of Maryland College Park, and his Master's Degree from McDaniel College.  Roberts looks forward to another great year working with the McDonough community to help students become college and career ready.

Ms. Cherif has been a vice principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School since 2017. She joined Charles County Public Schools in 2006 as a Social Studies teacher at Westlake High School. In 2015, Ms. Cherif began her administrative career as an Administrative Assistant at North Point High School. Since joining CCPS, she has been active in curriculum development, professional development, and assessment creation on both the school and county level. 

From the Detroit Metro Area, Ms. Cherif has earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies- Secondary Education from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Southern California.

Mr. Deegan has been a vice principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School since 2017. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2001 and then his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport in 2004.  After graduating he helped open a small alternative school in Bath, NY where he established the Health and PE curriculum while teaching all classes in those disciplines.  He then made the move to Charles County in 2005. He taught Health and PE at Benjamin Stoddert and Matthew Henson middle schools from 2005 to 2013.  He also enjoyed coaching baseball at McDonough and Lackey High School.

He earned his Master's in Educational Leadership in 2010 from St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY.  He took on the role as Administrative Assistant at North Point High School from 2013-2016.  He was the sixth grade vice principal at Davis Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year.

Sonja Djossou

Mrs. Djossou has been a vice principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School since 2018. Previously, she served as administrative assistant at Theodore G. Davis Middle School for four years. Mrs. Djossou entered the Charles County Public Schools' system as a special educator at Henry E. Lackey High School nine years ago. Her prior teaching experience was in Prince George's County Public Schools for eight years.

She possesses a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, Master’s of Education degree in Special Education from Bowie State University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study: Instructional Leadership Professional Development from Towson University. 

During her career in the Charles County Public Schools, she has served students outside of the classroom in the capacity of a check-in/ check-out mentor, tutor, and Girls Empowered & Motivated to Succeed! (G.E.M.S.) school sponsor.

Ms. Bell began her career with CCPS in 1980 as an Instructional Assistant.  She pursued her dreams and became a math teacher and then an Administrative Assistant.

Ms. Bell has always had a passion for teaching, encouraging and supporting students.  Her two children are products of Charles County Public School and the proud grandmother of three of which two attend Diggs Elementary School.

She is an avid competitive bowler, a Mickey Mouse fanatic and a Redskin fan.

Mr. Peck has been a part of the Administrative Team at Maurice J. McDonough High School since 2018. He joined Charles County Public Schools in 2005 as a Social Students and English teacher at Thomas Stone High School. He has been active in curriculum development and has led several educational and instructional programs in his time with CCPS. 

From Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mr. Peck has earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Grand Valley State University and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College.
