Mr. Charlton was appointed principal at Thomas Stone High School in 2017. He is originally from Newcastle, England and taught health and physical education at an inner city middle and high school in Manchester before making the transition to the Eastern Shore in 2000. Prior to moving into administration, Mr. Charlton taught health and physical education at Central Middle School in Virginia, North Dorchester Middle School and coached the boys’ varsity soccer team for three years at North Dorchester High School.

Prior to moving to Charles County, Mr. Charlton was the supervisor of physical education, health and family and consumer sciences for Wicomico County Public Schools. His administrative experiences include assistant principal at Parkside High School and Wicomico Middle School in Wicomico County as well as Bellingham Secondary School in Newcastle, England.

Mr. Charlton has a bachelor's degree in physical education and modern world history from Leeds University and a master's degree in public school administration from Salisbury University.

Douglas Lamb was appointed Vice Principal at Thomas Stone High School in 2017. He is in his 5th year as a Vice Principal. He joined Charles County Public Schools in 1999 as a special education teacher and coach at Thomas Stone High School. Mr. Lamb is from the great state of Ohio and is a Buckeye. He attended The University of Toledo and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. Later he received his Master of Science degree from McDaniel College in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Administration.

Matthew Loyd is a 1991 graduate of Thomas Stone High School.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Administration from McDaniel College.  He started his teaching career in Houston, Texas before returning to Charles County in 1997 when he was hired as a Physical Education and Science teacher at Milton Somers Middle School.  In 2007 he went to Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, where he served as Vice Principal for four years.  Matthew has spent the last six years of his career as a Vice Principal at La Plata High School.  He is excited to return to his alma mater as an administrator and looks forward to working with Cougar students and staff.

Originally from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. Miesowitz earned her bachelor’s degree at Edinboro University of PA and started her teaching career at Lackey High School in 2002 as a Special Ed English teacher.  In 2006 she earned her master’s degree at McDaniel College and in 2012 was promoted to the position of Vice Principal at Lackey High School.  In the school year of 2014-2015, Mrs. Miesowitz was given the opportunity to open St. Charles High School and worked there as a Vice Principal for 4 school years.  Mrs. Miesowitz is excited to join the Thomas Stone community!

Mrs. Pearl has been a Vice Principal at Thomas Stone High School since 2015.  She Joined Charles County Public School in 2009 as a math teacher at Milton Somers Middle School.  She also served as a middle school math resource teacher from 2012-2014 at General Smallwood and Matthew Henson Middle School and as an administrative assistant at La Plata High School from 2014-2015. Mrs. Pearl began her career in education in 2001 working as an elementary teacher in Prince Georges County for five years.  From 2006-2009, Mrs. Pearl worked as a middle school math teacher and later served as an Assistant Principal in San Antonio, Texas.

Ms. Yhap is a Charles County native who graduated from Henry E. Lackey High School.  Ms. Yhap began her teaching career in 2011 at Fred M. Lynn Middle School in Prince William County as a 7th grade ESOL/Language Arts teacher. In 2012, Ms. Yhap transferred to Charles County Public Schools and began her 6 year teaching career at John Hanson Middle School as a 6th grade Language Arts Teacher. During her tenure at JHMS, Ms. Yhap also created and facilitated a “Writers Tea Shop” which is an after school program for students of all levels who are seeking Language Arts enrichment and intervention services after school. In 2015, Ms. Yhap became the FAME Administrator for the first FAME cohort at John Hanson Middle School.  Later in her career, Ms. Yhap chose to transfer to General Smallwood Middle School in 2017 as a 6th grade ELA teacher. During her time at Smallwood Ms. Yhap created, facilitated, and implemented a new in-school field trip program: #OBSERVEME, which is currently in practice today. Ms. Yhap earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Arts along with her Master’s degree in Secondary Education and Literature from Hampton University in 2010. Most recently, Ms. Yhap has completed her Administrator 1 Certification from Towson University and plans to pursue her PhD in the fall of 2018. Ms. Yhap is extremely passionate about education, servicing others, and joining the Thomas Stone Cougar Family!
