Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is offering a telework option to eligible employees for the 2024-2025 school year. An employee’s telework status begins upon supervisor approval and ends in June 2025.

The Office of Human Resources is overseeing the program for CCPS. All employees interested in applying to telework should review the training videos posted below.

A list of eligible CCPS positions that fall under either the EACC or AFSMCE negotiated agreement is linked below. Click on the Eligible Positions drop-down menu. The following is important information about the telework program.

Three types of telework arrangements are available for employees:

  • Recurrent telework: Telework which occurs on a regular, recurring basis at an alternate worksite (eligibility limited to some positions at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building).
  • Intermittent telework: Employee works regularly from their primary work site, but would telework for limited periods of time based on specific circumstances or job responsibilities that could be accommodated by teleworking.
  • Situational telework: Telework for an employee that is approved on a case-by-case basis, or that is not part of a regular telework schedule.

For the 2024-2025 school year, an inclement weather telework option has been added.

  • Inclement weather telework: when schools are closed for students and staff due to inclement weather, but 12-month employees must report to work, telework eligible 12-month staff have the option to report to work, telework (with supervisor approval) or take unscheduled leave.
    • Teleworking on inclement weather days does not affect other approved telework arrangements.
      • For example, an employee already situationally teleworked on a Tuesday but it snows Friday and schools are closed, the telework eligible employee can telework Friday with supervisor approval.

Eligible employees are required to follow all telework guidelines and complete an electronic application for manager/supervisor approval. When completing the application, employees need to be sure they are choosing their current/correct supervisor name in the drop-down box so their application routes to the correct person for review.

Employees should also not expect an immediate response from their supervisor. Employees requesting telework will receive an email notification of their telework approval or denial.

Approval or denial of any employee telework is at the discretion of their manager/supervisor and department chief. A manager/supervisor has the right to regularly review an employee’s telework agreement.
