ADA Services for School Staff
Our school system is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment for all employees. In accordance with state and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we provide reasonable accommodations to qualified staff members with disabilities to ensure equal access to employment opportunities and workplace participation.
Accommodations may include:
- Modifications to work schedules or duties
- Assistive technology or equipment
- Accessible facilities and workspaces
- Support during the hiring or onboarding process
These services are designed to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs and to fully engage in the professional community. Requests for accommodations are handled confidentially and assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Reasonable Accommodation Request Timeline
Step 1: Request Submission
📅 Day 0
- The employee or applicant submits a written request for workplace accommodations to the Office of Human Resources (OHR) via the accommodations@ccboe.com email address.
- Include and attach relevant medical documentation.
- Complete fillable ADA Request Form linked above.
Step 2: Acknowledgment of Request
📅 Within 1-3 Business Days
- OHR acknowledges receipt of the request.
- The interactive process begins between OHR and the employee. Employee contacted within three (3) days to schedule an interactive meeting.
Step 3: Interactive Process
📅 Days 3–5
- OHR engages in a dialogue with employee to understand limitations and explore possible workplace accommodations.
- Additional documentation may be requested and/or required from healthcare provider(s).
Step 4: Evaluation & Decision
📅 By Day 5
- OHR reviews all information and consults with relevant parties (e.g., employee’s supervisor/manager/chief).
- A determination made regarding the workplace accommodation(s).
Step 5: Notification of Outcome
📅 By Day 7
- Employee notified in writing via email from OHR of decision.
- If approved, implementation planning begins with specified effective date.
- If denied, employee informed of the reason and appeal options.
Step 6: Implementation
📅 Days 8–30
- Approved workplace accommodations implemented.
- OHR follows up to ensure effectiveness and satisfaction.
🔁 Ongoing Review
- Workplace accommodations may be reviewed periodically (e.g., every 30 days) or upon request to ensure continued effectiveness.
