College Scholarships / Financial Aid

Post high-school planning for all Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students begins at the elementary school level. Each Charles County public schools has at least once school counselor who provide guidance for post-high-school planning. At the elementary school level, counselors work with students during events such as Career Day and College Awareness Week to educate students on future career possibilities. Middle school students also participate in Career Day and College Awareness Week events, and work with their grade-level counselors to select elective choices and academic courses to prepare them for study at the high school level.

All seven Charles County high schools feature College and Career Centers for student use and include a variety of resources including college handbooks, scholarship listings and financial aid applications. Each center is staffed by a full-time college and career advisor, who is available for one-on-one assistance for students as they examine their career goals and objectives. College and career advisors also provide information sessions for parents and students on the financial aid and scholarship search processes, arrange school visits from local college representatives, military and business representatives and maintain updated lists of available scholarships and job opportunities for students.
