Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) announces the results of the 2024-2025 Student Member of the Board of Education primary election results. Four candidates were in the running for the position, which covers the 2024-2025 school year. Students in Grades 6-12 were eligible to vote in the primary election and will be asked to vote again the general election.

The two candidates moving forward to the general election with the highest number and second highest number of votes are Samarjeet “Sam” Virk, junior, North Point High School, with 268 votes, and Amirah Tillman, junior, North Point, with 126 votes in the primary election.  

A total of 103 votes were cast for Lauren Compton, junior, La Plata High School, and 70 votes were cast for Thomas Stone High School junior Eden McGuinn.

Virk and Tillman will participate in a finalist candidate debate at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 3. The debate will stream live on the school system website at www.ccboe.com. Students in Grades 6-12 will then be able to participate in the general election and vote between April 8 through May 13. Information about how to vote will be sent to students by Synergy Mail.
